Legal Assistant

• Required Skills

  • Basic administrative/secretarial skills

  • Typing speed and accuracy

  • MS Word & Excel experience

  • Computer skills including Internet and Email experience

  • People skills

  • Detail orientation

  • Production orientation

• Additional Skills a Plus (but we will train)

  • Dictation equipment experience

  • Basic litigation knowledge (pleadings, interrogs., depos., etc.)

• General Information

  • As for the basic litigation knowledge, a familiarity with pleadings, interrogatories, depositions, etc., it is helpful, but not necessary.  We will train.

  • There are opportunities to learn many aspects of a civil practice.  Initially, employment will entail managing the alternate dispute resolution scheduling and the administrative work for Mark Shelton.  Over time and with experience, employment will provide the opportunity for paralegal type activities.

  • Strong Benefits – paid health insurance and long term disability (beginning the 1^st of the month after successful completion of 90-day probation period); vacation and sick time; employer paid profit sharing plan and life insurance (beginning January 1 after completion of 1 year of employment)

  • Casual Office – no need to maintain an expensive wardrobe.

  • Separate office is provided for this position.

  • Firm provides full kitchen facilities.

  • Lutz office location – travel in the opposite direction of rush-hour traffic - no parking expense.

  • Hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. w/ 1 hour for lunch.  Although this has been a full time position, we may consider a modified schedule or flexible hours.
